Hey Blade, it's such a waste since we are all of the same blood and yet we fight over things. I wish all of us should be aikidokas and we can avoid all this.

Take care man!

Dr Zaininah said HKL would continue to evaluate, supervise and maintain a high quality of service but support and understanding from the public were crucial to sustaining a high standard of service continuously.

HKL were once on par with tawaka hospital, service was really fast last time..

There is no ambition because...

There is no one who are responsible because..

There is no one made to be accountable for the things he had done or NOT DONE because...

The KPIs and performance based evaluation are not done properly because...

The information to do such evaluations are not accesible to citizens and the people cannot objectively and systematically pressure them to do a better job...

I strongly agree with you man, especially on the "ambition of just getting an A" part ... I must admit that I'm not an A student, just an average one. I try to understand what I've learned, and not just memorizing it. But sometimes, those students who read the academic books all the time and trying to memorize what they've learned and in the end got an A, I wonder whether they studied hard just to get an A or do they really understand the things that they've learned. No doubt, I respect them for being so hardworking. Oh ya, and I'm talking about those who studied the whole time without getting involved in other activities that requires us to build our soft skills. hmmm....*Wondering*....

As a teacher myself, I abhor, yes, totally abhor the present system of exam-oriented basis. We talk about producing human capitals when all these humans are mere organic robotic contraptions modelled after years of memorising and the race to get As. Suicide for failing to get As in exam? What's world-class with that? I feel blessed to have a father who was educated in the old way of English medium school that I acquired the language from him. But the kids now are pathetic. Study, study and then for what? To get As then forget the whole damn system. System? I always feel some emptiness when teaching the UPSR kids. And yes... most of the time, I teach them knowledge for them to survive in this cruel competitive world rather than passing the stupid exam. Exams that burden our kids can go to hell. It's life that matters, not the pride of the kids passing exams and then years from now, they'll rise up against the very system that creates them. How ironic!

Our goal for Malaysian Education is not clear. Is it to create competent work force? A statistic of how many A's Malaysian students can get? A medium for racial unity? I give you a quote:

“Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education”
Martin Luther King, Jr.

My explanations are here:
http://beyonduni.blogspot.com/2009/06/kebijaksanaan-dan-perwatakan-itulah.html

We really should learn to do things for the right reasons. We learn because it is our life-long struggle to better ourselves and become a better human, with knowledge.

furydose: it's alright man, you can take any writing of mine as reference. Yea I do hope things change too but it's different when you're in the game. It takes more than one person but masses to change things, my perspective though.

subtlefortitude: experience always teach you things. it's great to go thru all this as it makes you a better person in the end. good luck and all da best as an mpp!
