About Myself
I am a full-time entrepreneur and “scholar”. When I was 7, my dad inspired me into entrepreneurship by making me read Richard Branson’s biography. At the age of 12, I was deeply fascinated with finance and investment and watched the KLSE news although I did not understand a word the newscaster was saying. As I learnt History in school, I aspired to be the likes of Khawarizmi, Al-Razi and Ibn Sina who were masters of multiple knowledge and practitioner of knowledge.
My high school life was nothing out of the ordinary. I loved video games and was stuck with it until I finished my SPM.
I became active in leadership in my university years. I was appointed as the President of my College at UPM and subsequently elected in campus elections to become the President of UPM Students Council. I call this period the “shortcut” to learning about leadership. Managing the welfare of 20,000 people is never an easy task. My passion for national politics and patriotism increased dramatically.
Upon graduation I took up Masters of Entrepreneurship on a part time basis at HELP University College (due to be completed in 2012). I joined Crowe Horwath for my audit training and made my way into Malaysia Venture Capital Management Berhad as a Trainee to understand more about the entrepreneurship world. My short time at MAVCAP nurtured my thoughts on entrepreneurship and the only way to succeed is not to be on the sidelines or wear the “investor hat”, but to choose entrepreneurship as my main career.
I started Angels & Mentors, a firm specializing in Virtual Assistance, primarily on business process outsourcing. What’s that? Normal Malaysians ask. No wonder I did not succeed. My efforts were futile and I joined Perfect Fresh & Frozen as a partner and appointed as Managing Director. I went 360 degrees from accountancy, into the livestock business. The meat business was my best training ground, understanding the industry and how the food industry works. For me, food industry is a game of variables.
Heritage Food was another one of the ventures which I started in 2011. It was a cafe/restaurant at Bangsar. Fundamentally the food was good but we sold it off because the revenues were not that good. But it taught me the most important thing; “understand the psychology of your customers and you win all the revenues”. At the same time, our company started Toowoomba Deli and Meats, a steakhouse at Setapak. I started to view food business like an investment graph. My question would be; is it undervalued or overvalued?
Year 2012 was a great start, our company is currently partners with Protalitis Enterprise, a company owned by Zul and Nini Haznita which runs Kaw Kaw Burger Bakar. We are currently the authorized licensor for Kaw Kaw Burger Bakar & partners for the production facility.
What lies ahead? One thing is for sure, I want to learn as much as I can, and I aspire to get a DBA one day.
